I've signed up as two people as I was commenting in my capacity as jc8654 but I also said to Mark would he rather I write some articles which appeared to come from eUKhost. This is why I have the two accounts which in total come to 25+ posts/comments. And I got the OK from Mark before doing this.

I have 5 Posts and 1 comment under Jonathan = Total of 6
    I have 22 comments under jc8654 = Total of 22

This gives a total of 28 which is sufficient for me to be in the competition. I made sure of this before the deadline.

Before you accuse me of doing something stupid, I think you should ask about the circumstances and my reasons behind it! I did it to help Mark and eUKhost as that's the way he wanted it and he offered to set up the seperate account for me!

I can only respond by saying it's far from easy to ascertain who has posted what and where — what other conclusions are we expected to arrive at when it's so non-obvious why you posted as two different persons?

Furthermore I still can't find 22 comments from you in that period but I'm not going to dwell on it.

What I am going to say is that this is seemingly another example of a 'Fred Karno's Army/Circus' item from the eUKhost team ...

no one else bothered to post any comments or articles in our blog while JC and Josh managed to post total 25 posts / comments in the blog.

It takes no time to post 25 comments on a blog but no one else bothered to do so. We were expecting more traffic on blog as that would have paid for the Laptop.

Next time we will have something else instead of such contest as it seems that people like to hide from competition.

If you go into the admin section and then go to 'manage', 'comments' and then search comments for 'jc8654', you can see I posted 22 comments between 31 August 2007 and 29 October 2007.

And the competition helped encourage people to contribute to the blog. It helps share your knowledge before people need to call on it because they have a problem.

Yes I see that now (thanks), but looking as I was previously at posts viewed by month, it seems there's many comments that aren't included, e.g. in October the Month view lists only 31 comments (which I checked individually) and 7 are attributed to you, whereas using the search criteria of jc8654 shows 16 for the same month?! Similarly in August the search gives 5 entries yet the Month view shows none — is it any wonder that I've 'miscounted'?

It's a bit of an odd system, I agree. It's just about getting your head round it. But as you can see, all of my posts/comments are there.

I find the blogs ultra-confusing. Not a very easy-to-look-at content. A few recent posts show up on the main page, which may not be attractive enough to entice people to look inside. Inside, there maybe very good posts which are not "findable" unless one searches.
Too many categories with similar topics. Similar content in many posts.

    Example:
    WebHosting
    UK webhosting
    mySQL webhosting
    cpanel hosting
    php web hosting

    Example:
Authorisation Keys/EPP Codes is posted under Webhosting (http://blog.eukhost.com/webhosting/a...ysepp-codes-2/ ) However I think it should've been under domains. But one would not find "domains" or "domain name registration" category.

The blog content is OK from an SEO perspective, to get landing from search engines, but not as a knowledge hub. Perhaps that wasn't what it was intended for. Moreover, There is/was no way to prevent copy-pasted articles or to ensure/encourage original content.

    IJ

PS: My comments are not influenced by the contest. I just don't feel like posting there, contest or no contest.

    Hello IJ,

Our blog was well managed in the beginning but things went wrong once it had over 1000+ articles. We will get it reorganized to make it look good.

    Congratulations Joshua!

Your contribution on this forum is really appreciated as you have helped many customers so far and u've got their appreciation in return

You are real winner as you never helped other customers just to win a Laptop. Your intentions were clear and you have been 100% transparent with your approach

    Congratulations Josh .

I think its a tad unfair to say that everybody who didn't post in the blog couldn't be bothered. Making nearly 3,500 posts on the forum is rather time consuming!!

    Congratulations Josh,

& that calls off for a party

David, I'd have surely voted for you if you would have been in the race. You too have been one of the most active & helpful members onboard.
I hope we both would be taken into consideration the next time Eukhost launches any such contest [LOL]. I wish you better luck next time...

Some rules were set when this contest was initiated and rules should not be changed to favor anyone in particular.

Next time we wont keep any such contest. I will make my own decision to choose most helpful forum member. You are most important member of forum but I could never allow myself to customize rules

Congratulations Josh! I was too one of the contestant, Being a runner, I simply love to run.....

    quote for all runner;

“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.”- lilmmoe

I think I have been misunderstood! - The point I was trying to make was that my main motivation is not for personal gain and to win every competition going - it is to try and make a difference to people and help them.

    Soppy I know - but true .
