Default Which is the best hosting option?

Hi. I have a linux VPS with eUKHost running a few websites I have built and host for some clients.

I now have a new client who wants to have their site hosting dierctly with the supplier so I want to purchase a new hosting option for them rather than host it on my VPS (their thinking is that if I get run over they can just find another me and don't have to worry about moving their account!).

I had missed the launch of eNlight so have spent some time this evening reading about it. Given one of the things they want is backups and good reliability, I'm wondering whether to recommend this to them.

The site is going to be a few hundred meg in size and when up and running will be relatively static in terms of content and will not generate huge volumes of traffic. I would have previously recommended one of the standard Linux shared Cpanel hosting options as being more than sufficient (perhaps with additional offsite backup for their peace of mind).

Do you think that going onto eNlight for this customer is overkill, or is this appropriate for a site like this? I can probably justify the additional cost for reliability + ease of future resource increases as required. They are talking about the ability to stream short videos directly from their site and I guess that from a resource viewpoint this would be fine?

Of course I'll then need to start thinking about whether I should be moving my own existing VPS account onto eNlight!

    Thanks for any advice!

    Hi Matt,

If the hosting is only for a single static small website with not much of traffic, then a shared hosting plan is generally recommended. eNlight is more suited for websites which experience unpredictable bursts in traffic or applications/ websites experiencing frequent variability in usage. The product itself is particularly targeted at e-commerce stores which have peak/off peak times.

With eNlight, resources like RAM and CPU auto-scale as per the load on the server and bandwidth is used according to the traffic on the website.

If reliability and ease of future resources increase is a criterion along with the ability to stream short videos directly from the website, then eNlight is worth a try.
