Firewall prevents the server from DDOS. Choosing a Firewall against DDOS will depend upon the quantity of DDOS attack the site is currently facing. Please drop a email at sales@eukhost.com and specify the quantity of DDOS attack, so that our Sales Team will provide you a solution along with the cost involved.

Just to add - DoS - Denial of Service and DDoS - Distributed Denial of Service, DDoS is a advanced version DoS. DDoS attacks takes place due to third party applications, Self Inflicted DDoS, Hacker, Undesired actions etc..etc
    Symptoms:-

    1. Machine shows a high CPU load
    2. User complaints about slow (or no) site access
    3. Large number of connection requests from different networks
    4. Services (e.g., HTTP) fail at a high rate
    5. Programs run very slowly

    That's all I know lol

    Cheers

    Hello,

We can provide you with the Proxy Shield protection to stop DDos upto 2GB to 4GB of DDos attacks on your Server. We provide Cisco ASA 5505 and Cisco ASA 5510 Dedicated Firewall with our Dedicated Servers. As Rossie said we will need the exact density in figures of DDOS attack that your site had ? We'll provide you with the concrete solution for the same.

    Cheers

Yeah DDoS is a definite pain.

I suppose one of the most recent examples of this is LOIC (Low Orbit Ion Cannon) which Anonymous encourages its 'members' to use against targets of the group.

You would think that at least if spammers are going to use the forums they would make sure their image links would work .
