My Client asked me about the tools/options available to prevent DDOS attack on Linux server. What are they and why they occur. I would like to know is that true to prevent DDOS attacks fully. NEED HELP

Just to add - DoS - Denial of Service and DDoS - Distributed Denial of Service, DDoS is a advanced version DoS. DDoS attacks takes place due to third party applications, Self Inflicted DDoS, Hacker, Undesired actions etc..etc
Symptoms:-

1. Machine shows a high CPU load
2. User complaints about slow (or no) site access
3. Large number of connection requests from different networks
4. Services (e.g., HTTP) fail at a high rate
5. Programs run very slowly

Yeah DDoS is a definite pain.

I suppose one of the most recent examples of this is LOIC (Low Orbit Ion Cannon) which Anonymous encourages its 'members' to use against targets of the group.
