Default SMTP Server On Windows Hosting

    Hello,

If I order a Windows Hosting account primarily for our company website (possibly the Gold plan) will I be able to use the related SMTP features to send outbound e-mails via our hosting account and indepedently of SMTP service provided by which ever ISP we use?

    Thanks in advance.
    Paul.

Yes, SMTP server is installed on all of our windows servers. It's required for sending browser based emails using mail components. You can use, 'localhost', 'mail.domain.com' or server hostname as the host address.

Thanks for the quick reply Jack. Two more questions.

Can you use Outlook or Thunderbird to send e-mails via the SMTP server?
Are there any limits on the amount and/or size of e-mails you can send?

    Regards,
    Paul

Yes, our email service is completely compatible with Outlook Express. Your email addresses will work with Outlook Express and can also be easily accessed on the web from any computer using webmail service.

You can also use our email service in any other Email client like Thunderbird.

We have set a limit of 200 outgoing emails per hour on shared and reseller hosting, 500 outgoing emails per hour on VPS Hosting, 1000 outgoing emails per hour on Semi Dedicated Hosting and 3600 outgoing emails per hour on Dedicated Hosting to avoid any sort of email spamming from our servers. You cannot send more than the specified number of emails in an hour irrespective of the size of their mailing lists.

    Hi Ajay,

Please use the following steps to configure email in Outlook -

In Outlook Express, on the Tools menu, click Accounts. Click Add, and then click Mail.
Type your name, and then click Next.
In the E-mail address field, enter your email address and click Next.
Incoming mail server & Outgoing mail (SMTP) server should be mail.domain.com
In the Account Name and Password fields, enter your email address and password.
On the setup confirmation page, click Finish.

    * Please replace the domain.com with the actual domain name.

Let me know how you get on it.
    Jennifer.
