Isnt it time for a shake up of the dedicated servers on offer.. the same set of server specs have been advertised for months..

at the 75quid price mark you have 3 very similar spacification servers

the same i5 processor is then available on 3 different offers.. cant this be dealt with via product options?

the only real difference between eUK X3430 i5 and eUK X3430 (DS6) is an extra 12gb ram... and for the privilege you need to pay almost £1500 extra for a year. That's nuts

speaking of RAM.. even the upgrade at time of purchase from 4 - 8gb will cost £480 a year.. what is it made of? gold? Yet if I asked for an upgrade after purchase it usually costs less.

Also, other hosts are doing some very interesting things with SSD drives giving some insane speed boosts to lower end hardware and mad boosts to high end hardware..

cant we see a shake up, some excitement in your dedicated offerings??

Just to be clear I always use EUKHOST and have no intention of buying servers from elsewhere but ..

Have you got a date in mind for this... my business is expending quickly and the range on offer is very limited... the servers are never quite what I want!

Just added another dedi tonight and again... not quite what i needed but not a lot of choice,

There is no ETA for the new set of Dedicated servers, however, we are trying to arrange new set of Dedicated Servers asap and we will update the website as soon as new servers are available.

Just posting so I get any updates on this thread. Please update this thread should you change the range on offer.

We too will be upgrading or adding another server sometimes in the next few months.

One thing I noticed too, when we bought our dedicated server, we paid a one off fee for the RAID install and second hard drive. Now, it's a recurring fee, yet the task only has to be done once. Same for extra ram, it only has to be purchased and installed once.

We raised this when asking for a quote for a new server but it wasn't addresses. We don't like the idea of paying year after year for something and much prefer to pay a first year set up followed by a reduced price for following years.

It would be great if you reintroduced this method of pricing.

Also could someone tell me what the benefits are between the Q8300 and X3430 and the benefits of 2x300SAS over 2x500SATA.

We currently have 2x250SATA, so if we double our costs, we would be looking to double storage and power. Is there a thread on this, discussing the various options?

Additionally, maybe EUK could think about having an existing customer sign in area of the website where servers are discounted depending on length of custom and how many other servers we have. Those such as ajbird who started this thread would then see the best deals if they have several servers.

I know if we contact the sales dept we can get offers such as x months free etc, but it would be nice to see the range of servers in our own area of the website.

Yes, we will update our website and forums once the new dedicated servers are introduced. Generally, the charges of second hard drive and RAID are recurring charges but you were charged once as it was a promotional offer.

Some of the customers choose monthly billing cycle for the dedicated servers and hence it's not possible for us to accept one time fee for RAID and additional hard drive as this would make the server very expensive for these customers.

Q8300 and X3430 are dedicated servers with different processors. Q8300 has a Intel Core 2 Quad processor, whereas, X3430 dedicated server is offered with Quad Core Intel Xeon i5 processor. SAS drives run on 15k rpm and are considered to be faster and better than SATA drives. Due to this reason, they are expensive in comparison to SATA drives.

When it comes to deals for existing customers on new dedicated server orders, we always try and offer the best possible deal whenever we are asked for it. However, we will definitely look into the suggestion of having a different dedicated server section for existing customers

Hi Andy!

Intel hasn't launched any new series of CPU's for more than a year. OEM's like Dell, HP, IBM or SUN haven't launched anything new in mid-range server range for more than a year.

You say SSD, but have you evaluated performance of SSD's?

I've tested performance of SSD's and it disappointed me like anything. You should read the Wikipedia article about SSD's from Solid-state drive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and see how SSD is poor in comparison with 15k rpm SAS drives. I would prefer SAS drives in RAID1 over SSD's in RAID10.

I will have a word with our OEM's and we will come up with some good specifications asap.

We are also looking to launch our new eCloud platform in next few days, which will be a revolution in hosting industry. We are also working on imporving our VMWare and Hyper-V cloud offerings, next few weeks will come up with huge surpirse for you.

0 - 5 dedi 0%
5-10 dedi 3.5% off
10-15 dedi 7% off

I think the frustration I have is the eUK X3430 i5 which is a great buy only scales to 8gb...

next up is the eUK X3430 (DS6) has great ram but an eye watering 120 quid a month extra!! and no sas 15k drive otpion a whopping 1440quid a year extra... that must be some special ram!

to get both a decent amount of ram and the faster drives (and I agree they are great) you are looking at 450quid

In case it sounds like I am bitching to any one reading this.. and it is the support and service that keeps me here not the hardware.. I could just do with some more flexibility.

We do offer discount to our Resellers. Here's the discount structure :-

1 Server = No Discount.
2 - 5 Servers = 5% discount.
6 - 10 Servers = 10% discount.
11-20 Servers = 15% discount.
21+ Servers = 20% discount.

You should contact me, John, Robert, Catherine or Ryan whenever you need a new specification with customized hardware resources. Specifications advertised on the website are only few from the list of dozens of configurations and specifications which we offer. You should add all of us in your MSN and contact us whenever you need our help to select a new server for a new requirement.
