Default Server- & networkstatus as RSS-feeds

    Hi,

I've recently had an account with DreamHost, who offer serverstatus (downs, ups, maintenance etc), networkstatus etc. through RSS-feeds, with the ability to only see information related to Your own host.

That, I think, would be a great thing to see implemented in the future.

Server Status can be seen from cpanel control panel. We will need to check if any such feature can be activated within plesk control panel, but we won't make public show of all our servers IPs.

It won't be possible for us to provide monitoring service for VPS Hosting customers as monitoring each and every VPS Hosting on all our nodes is impossible right now. VPS Hosting customers with WHM - cPanel control panel can install munin ( Server Monitoring Software ) from their WHM. You can find Munin in "cPanel >> Manage cPAddons" section off your WHM.

Yeah, but if the server goes down, you can't check it in cPanel.....

And you can do it in other ways without having to display all the IPs.... You would just need to update it as and when there is a problem if it was based on RSS.

    Default Server status

That was my point to. I don't really care, if the server is running fine - I'm just interested to know, if there is problems - either related to the server, the services on the server, or networking issues.

And some of these I can't find using cPanel.

Our R&D officer has started working on such solution. he will share database of our billing system with his new monitoring tool to display status of respective server to each customer.

Automation is the only way to get something similar implemented as we cannot deploy people to keep on posting server status manually. Our main intention is to hide details of other servers from customers who have no concern with those. Customers should see status of their server only and none other.

I agree on that. Sounds like a good solution.

And yes - I'm only interested in knowing about 1) the server I'm on, 2) network problems.

That is - the things that could lead to me (or my visitors) not being able to reach the service I provide.

Just out of interest, will this integrate with the new billing system?

Yes. this should integrate with the new Billing system. Our focus is on migrating existing billing system to WHMCS, we will consider server monitoring part once billing part is sorted out completely.

I'm guessing it will be a couple of months down the line as the migration to WHMCS is being done atm.

Our new monitoring script is ready and it seems to be doing what exactly we need. We need to integrate it with WHMCS to allow all Dedicated Server, VPS Hosting and Semi-dedicated server customers to monitor their individual servers / VPS Hosting's.

You will be notified by email if any service on your VPS Hosting / Semi-dedicated or Dedicated Server goes down. There's no such feature in it which can predict problems that may occur.
