    Default SpamAssassin

Before I begin a quick thanks to support for a related problem I had with it recently.

I believe fairly recently there was an update/upgrade for SpamAssassin which resulted in a slight change of interface for users. Around the same time I *think* settings were altered so that SpamAssassin was/is enabled by default, and I think also auto-deletes by default. This does make perfect sense and like most I don't like spam. Unfortunately some genuine emails haven't been getting through (I think have been auto-deleted), and I've noticed with the altered settings it can be hard to tell if auto-delete is switched off, or in some cases turning off SpamAssassin (though submitting a ticket works).

I think it's probably easiest to explain the interface issue with some screen caps. The first is from a 'default' setup, as I've noticed this on two website hostings which are on two different servers...

...notice how the whole spam section appears to be surrounded in a grey box and the right hand column isn't used, as if the skin is broke. The next screen cap is from a website hosting where the enable/disable button was reinstated...

...I think to most this looks normal enough as the skin is fixed. I noticed though that a small section still appeared to be missing, as the following was taken from a website hosting from work...

...I hasten to add that the red boxes were added by myself afterwards. The second/lower red box is highlighting the missing line which tells users whether auto-delete is enabled and at what level.

I'm all for eUKHost enabling SpamAssassin by default and switching on 'auto-delete' by default if they wish, particularly as most probably wouldn't venture into CPanel to turn it on though it's handy. However I'd prefer it if the CPanel user (eg. myself) still had the option to turn off parts of it (or all) if they wished to.
To err is human, but to really screw up you need a computer.

I am not sure if this changes were forced by cpanel updates or something was done from our side. I will have a word with our senior system admins in other shifts and figure out why this has happened.

even our new Q6600 servers were getting overloaded recently just due to volume of incoming spams so some changes were made but I need to confirm what exactly was changed.

I will keep you updated with further information.
