Default 100% FREE Website Creation Help

    Hi All,

I would just like to introduce my website which I feel can help the absolute beginner to website creation and be a good resource for your website.

    websitecreationhelp.com

The above website is aimed at the pre-steps (first steps) of website creation which is sometimes lacking on the web.

    Regards

    John

John, seems that your website is only for BIG SCREEN First, try to develop your website supporting all standard screen resolutions. Update this thread once you are done !

    Hi All,

The screen width is intentional .

One of the major reasons being that there is already a lot of info on one web page (i.e. 3 to 5 pages worth of text/images), so if I make it for 1024 screen width as well the pages will be even longer!

Another reason is because of the screenshots. In order to accommodate the images, I sometimes have to fit in with whichever screenshot I am doing. Meaning. If I do google adsense or analytics screenshots for example I cannot always fit in the crucial/needed info in that screenshot even if I shrink my browser.

I am not going to sacrifice the screenshots by making them 88% instead of 100% for example because they become unreadable, blurred and so on. The whole idea of the screenshots is to cater for people who want "Actual" screenshot sizes.

Also. A good percentage of people coming to the site have 1280 or larger. This does not mean I will not or should not cater for those with a 1024 screen width of course but even if I opened the site to 1024 (with it being 1280) people will still have to scroll right all the time.

I may end up doing a 1024 version of the site (perhaps with shrunken screenshots), I don't know yet.

If I break up the web pages into Part 1, Part 2, etc I do not like this also. I did research on Part 1 and 2 with youtube videos years ago whereby everyone viewed part 1 (because it contained the crucial bits) but only half of those viewed part 2. And as you probably know, especially if you write articles for example, you sometimes need to tail off in part 2 with crucial links/tips but because the visitor only wants the crucial "How To" bit in part one....

If you have any views/ideas/etc on the above your input would be welcomed.

    Regards

    John
