Default How to link to a gzipped file

    Hello

I have been into cPanel file manager and compressed my style.css file so it is now style.css.gz (a much smaller file)

In the head of my website I have also changed the a href link and I have also tried adding various bits of code to my htaccess file to allow gzipping and nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong or not doing?

If anyone can direct me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. If it helps the server is Apache

thanks in advance for any suggestions

    Hello Vicky3,

In order to use style.css.gz, you need to unzip the file to style.css. This can be done using compression tool available in cPanel >> Files >> File manager >> Extract.

The compression modules (gzip / deflate for webserver) are used for online compression by webserver like apache. For which configuration can be made in .htaccess file of the domain. It is necessary to have mod_deflate or mod_gzip installed on the server.

If you need any further assistance in this, you can put a support ticket at support@eukhost.com, we will do the needful for you.
