Default How Many Slides Are Ideal in a Sales Presentation?

When I conduct a Presentation workshop for sales and marketing professionals, the one question I always get is - How many slides should you use in a presentation?

It would depend on how many graphs and charts you have?

IMO. it hardly matters until you have maintained the interest of your audience by portraying the correct and the precise information. Now that would actually depend on the data or the comparisons or the future targets that you wish to presents. Though, it is observed that too many slides can sometimes be tiresome, therefore its better to keep it as minimum as possible, but without compromising on the data and the statistics

There must be 5-7 slides, however it will depend on the information that you would like to present. Using more number of slides will not really hold the interest of the audience. The number of slides will also depend on the graphs and charts you would like to show.

There is no way you can set an amount for this - it all depends on the topic and the content. Just don't be boring - make sure that each slide points out a new and interesting fact.

I agree that there is no ideal number of slides in a presentation. As long as you can maintain the audience's interest, you can have as many as you wish. Nevertheless, you should take into consideration the amount of time required to present each slide and divide the allowed time for the presentation to the number of minutes reserved per each slide.

You will have to take into consideration many factors to decide the number of plates in the presentation. You will have to decide the time for which the presentation is to be given, the number of products in the presentation and the type of explanation which is to be given in and with the presentation. Once you decide this, it will become easier for you to decide the number of slides in the presentation.

Also take into account of where the presentation is. The best presentation in the world will sink like a brick if the location has uncomfortable chairs etc. Always found it best to be short and sweet.

I prefer to have at least 20 slides in my presentations. when you carry more content, you can always skip some slides if the audience shows less interest, but you will loose your confidence in the beginning itself if they show interest and you finish off your presentation in 5 minutes.

A best Salesman should continue to talk for a longer duration. I prefer to leave a lifetime impression on the audience, that makes them contact you for all their future requirements.

Well said Mark. I too prefer to do longer presentations. You can make a long presentation shorter but can't make a short presentation longer (unless you waffle, which is never good!!).
