Windows 8 may be coming to smartphones?

Steve Ballmer made a comment at its Annual Shareholders Conference as response to a question about the purported "post-PC" era of computing. His full quote:

We've got broad Windows initiatives, driving Windows down to the phone with Windows 8, you'll see incredible new form factors powered by Windows, from tablets, small, large, pens, smaller, bigger, room-sized displays.

The first section of the response is open to broad interpretation as to whether he is using an expression to refer to how Windows 8 will be or as to whether he is directly referring that Windows 8 will be on smartphones as well.

There has been speculation and rumours that Windows will be merged into a single product (supposedly "Windows 8") and this will run across all types of form factors - desktop PCs, notebooks, tablets and slate form factors and smartphones. Windows 8 has a new kickass feature of their metro which should be the standard on all PC tablets. The migration to mobile should have the same features.

I'm not sure. However, the Windows 8 beta will be arriving sometime in February Microsoft said during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2012.

It may not work on your Mac . Oh, and there'll definitely be a trial limit on it, probably around a year before it starts shutting down after a certain period of time to encourage you to buy the real thing lol .

Plus, I wouldn't use my Mac. It's a development computer, not a testing machine .
