    Default Asp.net and MySQL

    Hello,

I am creating a website in asp.net however I am quite confused with the use of Database, as I have checked that there is a limit of 400 MB size on the database with MS SQL Express Edition.

So can someone please suggest me an appropriate solution ?

    Thanks

    Hello Jamie,

to the Forums. Hope you enjoy your stay.

You can create a website using asp.net and have MSSQL 2005 Express edition as database for it. There is a limit of 400MB on the size of each database, however, this does not makes a difference to the website as you can have multiple databases for the website.

Please feel free to post if you need any further assistance.

    Hello Jamie,

Actually it depends upon requirements, As I am big fan of Microsoft, I would surely recommend you MS SQL 2005 Express Edition, However the limit of 400 MB per database is only on Shared Hosting Plans, You can host a database upto 4GB on VPS Hosting Plans and Dedicated Servers.

    Hi Jamie,

The actual limit on each database size if you are using MS SQL Express edition is 4 GB which is set by Microsoft. The 400 MB size limit on each database is set by us for our shared and reseller hosting plans only irrespective of whether you opt for Express edition or Enterprise edition.

You can consider a VPS, Semi Dedicated Server or a Dedicated Server if you wish to host a single database of more than 400 MB.

    Default Consider your business type

According to me what you need to take in to consideration is your business type and then take a decision about managing Databases and Servers.
