Some ads work better on certain sites than others, and I'm just curious how many here have used banner ads on any of their websites. You need a lot of traffic, but for some sites, banner ads can be a good fit.

Do you mean promoting your website by getting your banners published on other websites, or publishing banner ads on your website? Anyway, some marketers believe banners are dead, while the others think that using banners is still an effective way of promoting your business/website.
That's true about needing a lot of traffic for banner ads to generate enough revenue to be worth it. Banner ads are usually CPM based which means you are paid a certain rate for every thousand impressions. It's usually quite a bit lower than the average rate if you are paid based on the clicks. I've never used banner ads, but would consider them if I had a site with an unuusally low clickthrough rate.
Banner ads won't make a lot of money for your site, but you don't have to worry about clicks. Just put them up and get as many visitors as you can. It takes some traffic volume.
Banner ads are not necessarily any less effective than other ads. You hear the term "banner blindness" in reference to people mentally tuning out ads. However, that term is used in reference to any ad, from banner to text ads.
One good thing about banner ads or any other CPM ad is that you can concentrate on traffic without worrying about clickthrough rates.
I agree with you all. Publishing banner ads, traffic is all what you have to worry about. And I believe getting traffic to your website is much easier than getting clicks on the ads you publish there.
Yeah, that is the beauty of publishing CPM ads. The problem is that to be eligible for joining a high paying CPM ad company, your website has to be popular and gets a lot of regular traffic.
Banner ads will of course be better, but the price is relatively expensive, or according to their business needs, to choose their own advertising
