Yes search engines recognize the age of a website hosting as a contributing factor, In general older pages more than 12 months might rank better because they've had more time to accrue good incoming links.

Age of website hosting may influence the value on the documents there by search engines. Legit older website hostings are generally considered more trustworthy than newer website hostings.

Well Google definitely does. This is why it is often wise to purchase an aged domain when starting a new site as this will help you out instantly with your rankings for all your pages.

well i certainly agree with that, age of domain does play an important role in ranking. For instance I have a website over here "link removed for self promotion /mod" which i have let go for time being. It was created in 2006 right now there is no content no nothing but still it has page rank 1 and if you search web development in nashik or link removed /mod in nashik its there on first page. So hosting or age of domain does play an important role in search engine optimization

Google assigns a numerical value to a webpage based on the importance of a web page among the vast webpages spreaded over the world wide web. This is known as the Page Rank. There are many things affecting the Page Rank (in other words Affecting the importance of a web page) among of them is Site Age too. If you have the old site certainly it would be having the high ranking.

Yes it's possible to rank better if you've acquired good number of backlinks on that time frame and re-optimizing your website for gaining organic traffic, just the domain age is not going to help you.

    Yep age is one factor
    But many other factors count

It is possible to rank with new sites also but anyway usualy it take 2-4 months to reach first page (but niot in competitive niches like real estate or web hosting ...)

Its true that the age of the domain plays a vital role in achieving better positions in SERP's, but, that does not mean that new domains fail to do so. If you have unique content on your website with appropriate number of backlinks you can very well achieve better positions in the search results. The most important and an effective way to get good rankings is to follow the search engine criteria for ranking websites.

I think that is where most people fail when it comes to thinking that all new sites will never make it. Its just like anything else new in the world, when you have competition of any kind (off or online) you still need to stay one step ahead of them.
