    Default Another VPS or Data Backup Service

    Currently, I have a high traffic forum hosted on a VPS at another web host, which is really not reliable and don't allow me to know what was the issue if any occurs. So, I am positively looking forward to host at another web hosting company. Along with that, I am also interested in storing my data at another place for security reasons. Shall I opt for another VPS hosting or should I opt for a Data backup plan?

    Hi, nowadays backup plans are getting much popular, as people are knowing its importance. Most of the people store their data either in bank or at friends home. However, I think local data storage is not that much effective, you may lose your data due to the theft, flooding or power surge. Storing your data or backing up your data on offsite backup servers ensures your data security and allows you to upload and download your data anytime you want. If you can afford another VPS, its fine. But, IMO you should opt for an offsite backup hosting plan, as they are inexpensive and will keep your data secure.

    If you main aim is to store or backup your existing data, then the backup plans are the right choice, another VPS would be a bit expensive for you. Using the R1Soft backup software application protects your disk-based or servers data and uses replication and synchronization over the network storing point-in-time snap shots in disk based storage. Also, look for other options available ensuring your server data security, such as Dedicated Server Hosting packages and Cloud Web Hosting plans.

    Considering a backup plan would be an ideal choice when it comes to the total price of the entire solution as well as the functionality. If you choose a backup plan, you can select the backup space for important files and databases only or for the entire system. Also, duration for backups can be kept as per your choice which is an added benefit.

    if you want to store and backup your data, your thought is useful, you can use replication and synchronization over the network storing point-in-time snap shots in disk based storage. besides, other options, you could choose easeus todo backup warkstation 2.0, it is easy to operate and can back up entire operating system

    Can I backup specific files using the R1Soft Data Backup Software ? Suppose I want to backup only few directories from the server, is it possible ?

    @Divdot
    Its not possible. R1Soft Data Backup Software takes complete backup of your account. However, you can restore specific files and directories using R1Soft, but backup of particular file or folder is not possible.

    R1Soft takes the backup of the Inode, wherein all the data on the server is backed up.

    But, why would someone need to take backup of a particular file or folder when R1Soft offers the feature of Incremental Backups. This utility creates a successive copy of that data portion which has changed since the preceding copy stored on the backup server. Inshort only those files or folders that have undergone any changes are backed up.
