I have a question about the charges involved when transferring a .uk domain name to eUKhost. I have recently moved a client's domain name from another domain registrar to eUKhost and was charged £12.00 for the service. However the domain name in question, whitemonk.co.uk, was only registered in January of this year for two years, so had over a year yet until it needed to be renewed. I have previously read on this forum that if the domain has over a year remaining before renewel, that the transfer should be free. Despite this I was informed by the billing department that I would have to pay before the domain would be transferred so went along with that as I needed to get the web site hosting working.
My question is therefore does what was stated in the other parts of the forum still apply and if so should I not have been able to transfer for free? A follow up to this would be to ask that since I have been charged, will the extra two years I have now paid for be added onto the remaining time the domain already had?
