Default Which is the cheapest domain registrar?

I dont know, maybe 1and1. I am going to get some domains for free, but after it, I will need to buy a few, too, and I don't wanna spend too much money

I think there are a number of issues to think about when chosing a domain registrar - and which is cheapest is not necessarily the best as the difference in price across all registrars seems to be minimal.

I'd say if you want cheap; go with godaddy.com, personally I can't stand their incessant advertising and their web site hosting is a pain to use, but they do have a non-stop stream of special offers.

If you want quality control go with fasthosts.com (they're quite good on price too!)

If you are thinking about bulk-buying or reselling domains I'd look into getting an eNom reseller or bulkbuy account - I believe you still get a free reseller account with eNom when you sign up to a eUKHost Reseller package, best if an admin can confirm this though!

The one handy thing that I've found with godaddy is the 'domainsbyproxy' feature. It's useful for non-UK domains where you can't make use of the opt-out and aren't able to use a buiness (or PO Box) address. With web privacy and identity theft becoming more of an issue it's worth baring in mind.

Personally I try not to register my domain with the same company I host it with. This is mainly due a problem I've had with a previous host where transfering the domain away has been a pest due to a change of owner at the company the web site hosting is for. Though I'm fairly certain I wouldn't encounter the same problem with eUKHost.

We do offer eNom reseller account to our resellers. Domain registration is not our main Business and nor for any other well known registrar like godaddy or enom or budgetnames.

All this registrar's sell domains for cutthroat price expecting customers to order other addon services as well. We have many customers who had servers with godaddy and they moved to us as they needed good support. Those who run single website hosting and dont need support will always stay with Godaddy so they have nothing to loose. They will be biggest hosting company even if one 1 of 100 domain customer orders 1 dedicated server. many customers give preference to brand name and it makes no difference to them even if their ticket is replied after 2 - 3 days

Nice link there, It always amazes me that godaddy are so popular but I guess your post answers that question; it's the first one people stumble across!

I personally swear by fasthosts/ukreg for domain registrations simply because of the control it gives me, I don't have to rely on anyone else to get something changed, when dealing with customers who want stuff and want it NOW this is a huge plus (one of the many reasons I use eUKHost, too)

It's also nice to be able to register a domain with no hassle, they store your contact info and credit card details, so it's more or less one click (compared to GoDaddy's 30-40 clicks!) - although this isn't so good on the wallet

The cheapest domain registrar to me would be WSDReg.com, they are a reseller of DirectI and I use them a lot to buy my new domain registrations - they have a lot of discounts (at least 3 times a year) and currently selling .NET and .IN domains at discount prices (.NET = $5.99 .IN = under $5). You won't find many top registrar's sell any gTLD's under $8.50 or so because of registry price increases.

Again, brand name strikes again - quality tends to go out of the window sometimes as people can be blinded by good advertising and the fact that "everyone else" has gone with them .

I use a company called Krystal - only a small registrar - but cheap, and you can speak to then on the phone. They have helped me out a few times where domains have gone past their renewal date.

I have all my domains at either namecheap.com or with eukhost.com Namecheap is good and you get free privacy deal, euk are good too as it takes the "hassle" out of purchasing a domain and hosting seperate. Good thing about euk too is that they allow you to transfer the domain to who you want if you wish. They are not insecure about that as they know they will keep allot of members cause of the service.

I would also prefer buying domain name from the host because one of the reason the domain not get expired as the hosting company generally take care about this.

I get most of my domains from Namecheap or eNom, who provide relatively cheap registration services.

From my personal experience, it is good to go with a company that has good customer service. I have bought several urls as well as hosting. For my most recent site, I am actually selling products from it. Godaddy offers SSL certificates. This certificate instills credibility in the site that you are selling products from. I used a code to get 30% of, if I remember correctly, it was slam30. Please someone let me know this is correct! ha

Last week, I had a problem with my site. The most incredible thing was that I didn't even call them, THEY CALLED ME! I have never even heard of a company doing that. It was awesome.

I don't think I will ever switch ha!
