Default Creating Content for Domain Names

I have heard that Having content on a Domain name increases its resell value. But I want to know the exact reason which increases the value of the Domain Name.

Is it because of the Search Engine Optimization put in the Domain Name? or
Is it because of the Traffic the Domain already gets?

Also tell me what type of content increases the Value of Domain name? Is a Wordpress Blog enough or a Static website will do?

    Please justify your views.

Not too sure about it, but logically, adding content to a domain should help you get some value to it. The reason I say this is because adding content to the site would make is crawlable and help you get the domain indexed faster in the search engines, which wouldn't be the case if there isn't any content available for the search engines to crawl.

That's right, if you have a particular domain that has content about a particular niche and it gets crawled by the search engines then it surely would give to a scope to expect more amount from the one who is buying it. But at the same time, there is also a possibility that the rankings and stuff may decrease once s/he adds content to it. This is due the various reasons that Google considers while ranking a website.
