Domain name unavailable on one checker - but says its not registered on another?

Hi,

I have a .co.uk domain name in mind I would like to register.

I checked here through my Client Area WHCMS and the .com version is available, so I've purchased that.

I would also like the .co.uk version but the domain checker within the WHCMS says its already taken.

I did a SamSpade.org check on the same domain and it says comes up with this :-

ERROR: Unable to connect to WPCache for co.uk ... Aborting ...

Also, Domain Dossier - Investigate domains and IP addresses, get owner and registrar information, see whois and DNS records says :-

Could not find an IP address for this domain name. No match for "xxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk".

This domain name has not been registered.

WHOIS lookup made at 09:40:15 21-Nov-2008

So who is right and is there any sure way to tell if this domain is available?. I wouldn't like to think it was actually available and I miss out on it!!!.
