    Default Domain Transfer Process

In order to transfer any Generic TLDs like .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info to eUKhost, we will require an EPP code of the domain name. EPP code which is an alpha-numeric code required to transfer domain from one registrar to another registrar. It's also known as Authorisation Key Or Transfer Secret Key.

To initiate a domain transfer between registrars, a domain must meet the following requirements:

    1) Domain must be unlocked and should be 60 days old from the date being registered or transferred .

    2) Registrant and Administrative contacts should be valid to approve transfer request.

    2) A domain must be in “ACTIVE” or “OK” status. If a domain is in “REGISTRAR-LOCK”, “REGISTRAR-HOLD”, “REGISTRY-LOCK”, “REGISTRY-HOLD”, "EXPIRED", “REDEMPTION PERIOD” or “ PENDING DELETE” status, the global registries will not allow registrar transfer.

    3) Domain contacts should respond to verification email because domain cannot be transferred unless transfer request is approved which goes to Registrant and Administrative Contact email address.

Gaining Registrar initiates transfer request for the domain with the EPP/authorization key provided by the customer. This request automatically goes to Registrant and Administrative contact email address. Your current registrar has 5 days to respond. They can either allow or deny the transfer. Once domain transfer request is accepted, domain is transferred successfully within 5-7 days under new registrar's account.

*Domain Transfer can fail for following reasons : -

    1.Invalid/Incorrect Authorization Code
    2.Expired domain name
    3.Invalid administrative contact email
4.Domain is locked at current registrar or is not yet 60-days old
5.Administrative contact of the domain did not respond to verification e-mail/Transfer rejected by losing registrar.

Just to comment, it's slightly different for a .uk domain. For this, you need to get the current registrar to change the IPS tag to the new registrar.

Just to let you know that we have started using our nominet account and already pushed major domains to the same hence, IPS tag for .co.uk and .org.uk domains would be "EUKHOST" .

The domain transfer may fail due to following reasons :

    1. Domain is not 60 days old.
    2. Domain is locked at current registrar.
    3. Administrative contact of the domain did not respond to verification e-mail

In addition to it : For .co.uk, .org.uk domains,

Transfer requests can be canceled when Domains are not retagged at all or not retagged in time by the losing registrar
