Default Need to purchase this domain : Says Status pending Delete?

    Hi,

A client of mine who already has the .co.uk variant of his domain has asked me to also purchase the .com variant.

I checked here within my WHCMS for the availability of the domain and it appears to have been allowed to lapse by the previous owner as it is now showing this :-

    Status: pendingDelete
    Updated Date: 05-mar-2009
    Creation Date: 23-dec-2007
    Expiration Date: 23-dec-2008
Is it possible for me to purchase the domain in question at the moment?. Is it possible to "back order" or "reserve" the domain via EUK or ENOM?. Or will I have to wait till it is ready to purchase after the status changes?. If so, any idea how long?. I would not like to take the chance that I might miss out on this domain purchase if I don't know when it is immediately available.

    Any assistance appreciated.

If the status shows pending then it must be registered. In this case, I don't think that it would be possible for you to get that domain. Still let's wait for any EUK member to answer here. Let us see if it is possible to "back order" or "reserve" the domain via EUK or ENOM.

    Hi,

It is pendingDelete which apparently means it is about to be released back into the public domain for purchase. Going by what I have read on the net, this pendingDelete stage appears to take approx 5 calander working days till it can be purchased by someone.

"Pending Delete" applies to .com and .net domains refers to the 5-days timeframe after Redemption during which time VeriSign holds the domain.

One cannot recover .com/.net domains in the "Pending Delete" status. Domain should be recovered by paying additional fees when it enters into Redemption Period.

    Thanks Karen.

so my only option is to wait till the 5 day period is up and then see if I can purchase it?.

Yes, after pending delete phase which lasts for 5 days, the domain name, if not recovered, will be available for re-registration.

Good Luck with getting your domain name!

    Thanks folks.

Is there any way to tell how far into the 5 day period it has gone at this point so I know roughly when to try and snap it up or is it just a case of keeping checking it every day?.

To find out when it entered PENDING-DELETE status check the 'last updated date/time 'record. In case of this domain name, the last updated date shows 5th March so five days from there on.

After the pending delete status the domain does become available to the open market. However as all domains are picked after a deletion I would recommend you to go to NameJet.com and put in a back order on the domain in order to be able to bid on the domain.

If you have any additional questions regarding this matter, please let us know.

    Hello,

You may check if that domain name is available now for registration or not as it was supposed to become available after 10th March 2009.
