problems with an add on domain

im in the process of creating a new instance of a website already existing on another server and hence the domain name is still pointing to the old server...

im getting a few site related problems which im putting down to the fact im configuring everything on it using the IP/~username

so i thought..id temp change the domain to a spare domain name i have to make it a little easier...however my 1st problem was i couldnt find the manage account option in WHM?....maybe my reseller has disabled the function i thought...plan B i thought i could use an 'add on' domain to this account. instead...

for ease/speed i wanted to use the nameservers from where the domain is bought (123-reg) and simply point the web traffic to my IP....i performed a NSLOOKUP and sure enough its all resolving to my IP


i then set about adding the add on domain in Cpanel however get the following error

Error from park wrapper: Using nameservers with the following IPs: 212.67.202.2,92.51.159.40 Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

im not an expert in DNS so if anyone has any tips...id appreciate it...ideally i want to leave the nameserver for this domain alone tho..as its only a temp thing,...

Hi it sounds like you haven't corrected set your nameservers.

If you have a dedicated server follow the following steps
COMPANY
1. Assuming you have set up your nameservers in WHM, log into 123-reg and go to you MAIN COMPANY DOMAIN, go to change nameservers and basically set the nameservers to ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com and because you are setting the nameservers to themselves, you'll need to enter the server ip addresses which these nameservers point to within WHM.

2. Give this a day to propagate through the internet properly, then go to 123-reg and log into the domain you mention you are trying to use as an add on domain, go to change nameservers and set them to ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com <<< your domain is the domain you set above, not the one you are adding.

3. Give this time to propagate through the internet properly, then try to add your domain.

This will work.

If you have a dedicated server and you are not a company follow the following steps
USING YOUR OWN DOMAIN AS YOUR OWN NAMESERVERS
1. Assuming you have set up your nameservers in WHM, log into 123-reg and go to change nameservers and basically set the nameservers to ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com and because you are setting the nameservers to themselves, you'll need to enter the server ip addresses which these nameservers point to within WHM.

2. Give this a day to propagate through the internet properly, then go to 123-reg and log into the domain you mention you are trying to use as an add on domain, go to change nameservers and set them to ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com

3. Give this time to propagate through the internet properly, then try to add your domain.

If you have a shared cpanel server or VPS and are using EUKHost nameservers follow these steps
1. Log into 123-reg and go to change nameservers and set the nameservers to ns1.eukhostnameserver.com and ns2.eukhostnameserver.com (I don't know EUK's nameservers so you will have to ask them, I use dedicated servers)

2. Give this time to propagate through the internet properly, then try to add your domain.
