Default Redirecting multiple domains from 123 Reg to one domain hosted at EUK?

    Hi folks,

I have a website which is hosted on my package here at EUK. Lets say its called www.mymainwebsite.com

I have 5 other domain names just registered with 123 Reg, just the domains, no hosting package. These domains are all different permutaions of the same name, i.e. .biz, .eu, .info etc. I would like to have anyone typing any of the 10 domains into their address bar to be automatically taken/redirected to www.mymainwebsite.com

How can I achieve this?. I looked into the 123 Reg Control Panel and I can set up web forwarding and have various options under "Manage DNS" as well. Having Googled the issue, it would appear I could use htaccess, A Records or CNAME to do this?. Can someone explain how to achieve this easily?.

Also, apart from someone typing those domains into their address bar, can I set it up so that anyone doing a search with Google etc that finds these different names, upon clicking on it in the Google results, gets redirected to the main website?.

My other option was to just upload a "holding page" and have a "Click to enter" link that took you to www.mymainwebsite.com but I'm not sure if that is the best way?.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The best way here would be to point the name servers of your domains registered at 123 reg to eUKhost servers. You can then add them in your cPanel as parked domains. Once the domains are added as parked domains, there is no need to redirect them as they will be auto redirected to your main website.

If you add them as add-on domains in control panel, you will have to redirect them to your main website.

So just change the 123 Reg nameservers over for the nameserver that shows in my EUK control panel for the www.mymainwebsite.com domain?.

Then login to my cPanel, add the 5 domains from 123 Reg as Parked Domains and that's it?.

    Will give that a go.

One thing puzzles me though, I have quite a few different addon domains on my hosting package, all with websites currently active. Some of which have identical nameservers to the website I want these domains from 123 Reg to point to specifically.

How, by changing the nameservers in the 123 Reg control panel to the ones that will point it to here at EUK, will it know what specific website I want to display?.

    Hi Gary

Our Server has got internal records in httpd.conf file and these apache records point all domains to their respective directory on the server. These records are created when you add a domain name from your cpanel control panel.

Excellent, thanks for that. Have changed nameservers over at 123, but I think I need to wait a good few hours before the nameserver changes propagate and I can add them as a parked domain in my cPanel?.

You can add it now and it should start working. DNS propagation time has gone down recently.

Roger that, I'll give it a pop and see if I can add it in there.

Just added it in as a parked domain and it was accepted successfully.

Now, if someone types that domain I have just parked into their browser how do I get it to show my own website?. I assume where it says "Manage redirection" in cPanel I need to add the domain of the website I want it to display in there?.

    Hi Gary,

You can either set redirection from your cpanel control control panel or add the the domain as parked domain. Parked domain will always show content of your main website.

I can explain in a better way if you can give me example of what you wish to achieve.

I will PM you with the details Mark, if that is ok?. I think I have achieved what I set out to do but want to double check I've went about it the correct and best way. However I don't want to post details of the actual domain names themselves on a public forum.

    Thanks.
