    Hi.

Teamspeak is fairly light weight, although can use a lot of bandwidth. If you have shared hosting accounts on the same server, I recommend you don't do this and ask them to consider a dedicated solution such as a VPS of a Dedicated Server.

I host teamspeak servers besides game servers and like WelshTom said, I wouldn't recommend it on a web server either.
Its easy to setup but you may not ask anything in return per the license of teamspeak.

You are alowed to offer it for free but if you combine this free service together with a paid service (to make your other services more attractive), then you're bound to pay for a license fee.
Best thing to do in such rare case is to resell a teamspeak server instead and not to worry about licensies and usage. There are many that can provide it for you at a very fair price and even if you don't make much profit, you gave your client what he wants ... so you haven proven to be there for him for all his needs.

If you do want to host it non-profit for him, go ahead and download teamspeak to upload it into any folder.
You would only need to edit one .ini file and open few ports in your firewall.
Then you let a cronjob look if the server is up or not. If it's down it should attempt to start it again. I can guide you through if you desire to host him a teamspeak server.
He can then manage his server using a web based admin panel.

I have TS running fine on my VPS, 4 servers one with 50 slots, other 3 with 100. One of the servers hits an average of I'd say nearly 40 users, it's a Virtual Airline server.

It doesn't actually use that much bandwidth, and memory never exceeds 150MB (includes Apache, SQL and other services running on the VPS).

    Thumbs up Hello

    Hi Chris,

Minimum requirement for TeamSpeak application is "166 MHz processor with 64 MBytes of RAM", so you can definitely use it on our basic VPS plan (L-VPS-01).

But I think, this application requires much bandwidth. Especially the time and the mostly unknown factor how many people will speak at the same time for how long makes is nearly impossible to give a detailed result of how much bandwidth and traffic is required.

If we will think logically then each person speaking sends one voice stream to the server. The bandwidth and traffic requirement is depending on, the amount of channels and users, selected codec in the channels, people speaking at the same time in same/different channel etc.

Very few of our customers are using TeamSpeak and I think they all are having free version, so not sure about the licensing cost and all details.

So, if you wish then you can start with the basic VPS plan (L-VPS-01) and if requires then we can easily upgrade to higher VPS plans without any downtime.

    All the Best !!

    Best Regards,
