Default completely backing up a VPS

    Hello,

we have our company's emails and website on a eUKhost Linux VPS. Now I'm thinking I'd like to have a complete backup of everything.

What's the best way to do this? Get a 'backup plan' off eUKhost, or better from another provider? (advantages / disadvantages?)

Or should we get another VPS altogether as a live mirror? Or is that overkill. What's best practise?

    Cheers!

    Hi There!

You can consider one of our Offsite backup plans to completely backup your VPS. We offer R1Soft Backup solutions as well as Rsync Backup solutions however R1Soft is not compatible with Virtuozzo based VPSs but you can consider a backup plan based on Rysnc. We can configure daily, weekly or monthly incremental/full backups on this space of all the data you want backed up.

You can read upon more information about Rync backup solution and check the plans at Rysnc Backup plans

    Hi Ryan,

I don't think I need Rsync - I was thinking I'd use the WHM built-in backup functionality, which uses FTP. All I really need is a lot of room (three times the room of the VPS if I want daily/weekly/monthly, I suppose. Right?).

For that the price plan you suggest is not a good deal really. Nor is this here: eUKhost's - Off site backup hosting services only at eUKhost

    Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hang on, I just learned that unfortunately the WHM backup can only backup accounts to an FTP destination, but not system files.

Maybe I should use Rsync then. Do you offer larger capacities for your rsync plans?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

In case of backup created from whm panel, system files backup is not required. WHM panel backup contains website data, emails & mysql database backup of each hosting account. Please refer to our off-site backup plans at "www.eukhost.com/backup.php"

Im getting frustrated. This topic tells R1Soft is compatible on VPS:
    http://www.eukhost.com/forums/f29/r1soft-12279/

Here we read it's not compatible on Virtuozzo.
I see other providers offering R1Soft + VPS and I am interested in R1Soft.
Please tell me if you can offer me R1Soft one way or another instead of telling me that I can't since I'm on a Virtuozzo VPS. What does it take to get R1Soft with EUKHost (live chat wasn't supportive by only saying "nope, not possible")? Then I will decide what route I am going to take because Im tired of wanting this, looking at other hosts not knowing if you are even able to offer it otherwise. If it's not possible with EUKHost, then I'll figure out how important it is to me to get this R1Soft and if a switch of hosting provider is my solution.

Regular nightly backups using your old backup plans is slowing down my account due all accounts being compressed into .tar.gz files to get them transfered right after.

    Thumbs up

    Hi,

You can not run the CDP Agent on a Virtuozzo Virtual Machine. Virtuozzo is a semi-virtualized environment where each Virtual Machine has a chroot directory to run in and they all share a common hard Disk. In Virtuozzo, there are no virtual Disks like there are in Xen and VMWare.

You can run the CDP Agent on a Virtuozzo Physical Machine (main hardware node) and use it to Backup all of the Virtual Machines in one (1) instance.

You can upgrade to hyperV VPS or VMware cloud VPS and use R1soft backup with it.

As suggested by Scott, you can upgrade your VPS and choose a VMWare Cloud VPS to use R1soft backup plan. You can get in touch with the Sales Department via Live chat, Email or Phone to upgrade your VPS and choose a VMWare Cloud VPS. You only need to pay the price difference between the two plans to upgrade your VPS.
