    Default Hosthink Lost My data

Has anyone else's vps been wiped..

I was working away on a new site I was setting up, went to make a brew all of 3 mins came back and what do I see a apache holding page, I tried to log into whm, url doesn't load...I try to log into ssh won't load...so I go to my hosthink client area and my server shows 0% drive used...

I submit a ticket, only to be told

"It is done by, you, someone who knows your panel credentials, or you lost your password."

This is pure crap, I'm not a noob and i certainly wouldn't erase some 45gb data.

I have had nothing but hassle with them, it start a couple of weeks ago when I was given 8 hours to move my data from a vps with supposedly failing hardware to a new one, they wouldn't move it, and they changed all my ip's..

Anyone else had issues like this?

Its quite understood that you haven't done that. But I would suggest you to scan you machine with a reliable anti malware/spyware. Also, it is advisable to have a complicated password for your cPanel and FTP which must include a combination of alpha numeric + special character combinations.

Whats cannot be denied, and since the host hasn't done anything with your server (as it seems), you should proceed with uploading the backup of your website onto the server and make it live asap. Alternately, you may ask the host to restore the latest backup.

I've got to agree with Matt that that is the way forward. There is no reason for a hosting company to erase a VPS. I could be the result of malware and / or spyware as Matt has said if you are confident that you had a strong password.

To increase security though I would recommend changing your password to another strong password .
