Interested in learning Apache

Hi,

I currently have a VPS Linux server with eUK and am very happy with the service and technical support.

However, I am interested in learning more about server administration (Apache) and was hoping someone could recommend any good websites/books which might help me? I intend to install Apache on an old home PC and experiment with that, so I don't break my live sites!

I've got plenty of computer and web experience, but next to no web server admin knowledge, so I really am looking for a complete beginners guide!

I've had a look at the official Apache docs and they look useful, although possibly a bit overwhelming for a beginner.

Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Hi Philip, I've seen the official docs and will certainly work my way through them but I was wondering if there's anything with a slightly easier learning curve, perhaps a book someone could recommend?

Thanks Daniel, a Dummies book sounds along the right lines for me

My only concern is - how much space does it dedicate to MySQL and PHP? I'm already very experienced in both so would only be interested in the Apache sections.

I haven't read this book, but the dummies books are usually very lengthy in each category

Yeah it does look fairly chunky, although looks like the Apache stuff is only about 90 pages. Think I'll work my way through the online docs as a starter and have a browse through some books next time I brave shopping! Thanks for your help.
