I have just bought one of the new Hyper-V R2 VPS and am very impressed so far. One slight issue I have is with the size of the Windows 2008 Standard install. When I got the server as a fresh install, about 12-13GB of the 20GB drive was already used, compared to my old Win 2003 VPS server which I estimate must have been around 6-7GB used when I got it.
What I am wondering is can any of this bloat be trimmed to give me some more free space? There must be plenty of server roles which have no place in a hosting enviroment, can these be removed from the install?
