    Hi Chris..

As discussed on Live chat, the exact cause of load on the server can only found in live environment. The reasons behind high load on the server can be many. Will suggest you to get hold of a technician if incase there is high load on the server. In regards to the read/write speed, I did not find the read/write speed a problem.

I don't think my scripts were causing problem. I'm pretty sure there was problem with cloud vps setup or other abusive users...
On a cloud server, we provide hardware virtualization. This means that the VM will be able to utilize resources that are assigned to it. None of the VM can use the resources of the main node, the way this is being done on virtuzzo VPS (software virtualization).

If you want, we can perform tweaks wherever required. Hope this helps

    I have cloud VPS with

    800 Mhz Guaranteed CPU
    1 GB Guaranteed RAM

    I have HTML based site [ http://www.hostxnow.com ) And I use WHMCS ( http://www.whmcs.com ) and WHMCS Live Chat Addon ( http://www.whmcs.com/livechat.php )

My site + scripts should not be causing high server load. As I said, it must have been problem with Cloud VPS setup or network problem which caused issues with my VM.

Please optimize VPS to work with above scripts. Will see how it goes.

BTW, you say I need to ask on chat at the time of problem happening and I do e.g. I went on chat to report the problem as it was happening and 47 minutes later support guy says load is normal and they can't check what the issue was because the server load is low now. Well was they doing for the past 47 minutes LOL that really annoys me.

    Hello Chris,

VM's created on a Cloud server are based on hardware virtulization server, so no other VM can create any performance issue to any other VM. You can also check the http://www.eukhost.com/forums/f10/cl...hosting-10939/.

    Regarding your following quote.

Such problems are only possible on software based virtualization. Hardware base virtualization are implemented to avoid this problem. If this is true for hardware virtualization then other VM's hosted on the same cloud would also got affected and we would have received complaints from other users.

I have also found that you have one more VM hosted on same cloud "xxx.xxx.xxx.129", did you face any performance issue on other VM?

Earlier seems that process on your VM got stuck due to which VM was having high load and due to the high load you were facing slowness problem. On live chat with admin he mentioned that he restarted the services on VM and after that load is getting normal and VM is also responding fine.

I have done some optimization in the apache and mysql settings and monitored it for many hrs and not found any performance issue and load is also normal.

I will keep eye on VM and monitor it for few more hrs. You can also keep your eye on VM and let us know immediately if you see any more problem.

I already know the stuff John mentioned. I was more on about the disk input/output being so low. The first time I checked it it was 11 MB/s. I did the test again and now it's 22.6 MB/s

    root@cloud [~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 47.4329 seconds, 22.6 MB/s
    root@cloud [~]#

If I run the same test on standard Linux VPS from eUKhost I get

    root@server1 [~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 66.4613 seconds, 16.2 MB/s
    root@server1 [~]#

with a Dedicated Server using RAID 1

    root@server [~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 7.77226 seconds, 138 MB/s
    root@server [~]#

I know the test varies depending how loaded the server is, but the faster the disk input/output speed is the better, right?

It was mentioned at VPS Disk I/O test - Web Hosting Talk

Some users are getting 340 MB/s on VPS RAID 10. eUKhost use RAID10 for standard VPS/Cloud VPS? If so, then why is test so low?

I'm not 100% clued up on the disk input/output stuff...

Thanks for the info. But other users can use a lot of disk input/output? That could cause the problems I was getting with my VPS? If not, I guess I may need to increase 800MHz to 1.5GHz, but for the simple scripts I'm using I doubt it. And I have 1GB RAM on VPS which is a lot.

My scripts wouldn't have caused a load of 11.75 on 1 CPU.

    See what happens.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Dear Chris

We will schedule the disk maintenance over next weekend to troubleshoot if there are any issues with the storage/disk attached to this cloud.

    Hello,

We are still checking this but on first inspection shows the node has never in its history gone above 60% utilization. There also isn't a bottleneck that we can see on the storage side.

If you take a screen crap of your next top status during the problem it will help us look into the problem in a more detailed way. If it's a wait time problem we can see it from that.

    Hello,

One storage device was taken out of the cluster while we investigate an issue on cluster 3, which is under going fsck. So, an fsck on a large file system and 1 node down will lead to an issue for a period of time.

    More updates soon.

    Just getting

    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@hostxnow.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
This looks bad to my own clients.

My website has been down 5 hours and 37 minutes so far... I can get better uptime on a Shared hosting account ...
