    Hi,

    Once a week for the overall VPS is usually sufficient and daily (depending on your needs) for the individual files and databases.

    You have to ask yourself how bad would it be if you lost 24 hours of data, 12 hours, 6 hours, 2 hours and so on.

    Performance as in updates & cleanup can be done once a month, while backups should be done either weekly or daily
