Default Exim Service status failed... error

    Hi,

When i go to Service status in WHM it shows Exim status as failed, when i reboot/restart service it says it failed to start, but the helpdesk told me to ignore this and it was running ok. But i am no longer getting my server firewall email alerts and can not send from my web site.

Oh... I rebuilt apache with more security the day before.

What do you guys think is wrong?...

    Cheers,
    Bruce.

    Hi Bruce,

The error shown in the WHM Service Status can be safely ignored as this is a bug in the latest cPanel release. I have changed few settings now and upgraded exim email server to the latest one. The mail services are up & working fine even though they are displayed to be down in Service Status. I've reset the mail address properly in the WHM interface & you'd be able to receive the server alerts henceforth.. Please let us know if you continue to face any problems with your server..

    Hi Rock,

    Thanks,

so can I safely ignore this email message?

exim failed @ Mon Mar 8 03:11:19 2010. A restart was attempted automagically.
    Service Check Method: [tcp connect]

Failure Reason: Timeout while trying to connect to service
    Cheers,
    Bruce.

    Hi Bruce

Your server is configured so that the services are restarted automatically if stuck/unresponsive & once restarted send notifications to your email ID. Yes, you can ignore these emails received. Not to be worried about
