    Default Downgrade or Upgrade?

Some days ago I ordered a Dell R200 dedicated server from one of the provider, only to be given a HP ProLiant ML110 Tower server. I did not had any idea about this but one of my friend guided me. I was told that I had been upgraded.

It is having a faster processor, but practically this is a downgrade, not at all an upgrade.

    What do you people think?

    Thumbs up

Well, if the server has a faster processor, it is an upgrade, however, if you get less disk space, bandwidth and RAM with the server, you can ask the hosting provider if it is possible to provide you with more disk space, bandwidth and RAM with the server.

Compare the stats of both the processors and watch out the performance of the new processor against the old ones. If you think that the new processor is not fine can consult with your hosting provider and request for the change

It is better to notice if you are getting better performance with this processor than the previous one. If you are getting better performance, you do not need to contact the hosting provider, however, if you are not, you should contact the hosting provider and confirm about the reason for the same.

As far as concerned, it's the same or better. I wouldn't worry too much, they are probably going to be worse off due to the power consumption of that compared to the dell.

To be honest, the R200 is a bottom end single socket server. It's just rack mount. If it's a G5 ML110 then it must be comparatively equivalent in spec, if not size.
