    Default .htaccess problem with wordpress

Before I transfered my main website I decided to test the water with a temporary wordpress hosting website I have (since I have never used plesk before, let alone a full dedicated server for hosting a website). Anyway I battled through it all, transferred the files and database - everything seems to work, everything except .htaccess.

    The problem:
With pretty urls turned on with the old .htaccess I transfered over, when I attempt to view a page I recieve 404 Not found. When I disable pretty urls it works fine, if I delete .htaccess and reactivate pretty urls the .htaccess is not generated by wordpress.

mod_rewrite seems to be enabled in Parallels\Plesk\admin\conf

    Any ideas?

    Regards
