    Default Clarification of client setup

Just want to clarify the process to move a client from their current host to my reseller account. I have already made a copy of their site in a test area on my account so I know the site works OK.

So am I right in thinking I should set up their client area, then create their domain in that area and copy the web site to the hosting area. The domain registrar is not the same as their current host, and I would expect them to keep the same registrar, so having set up the hosting area, I get my client to request the current registrar to change the DNS name server records for the domain to those for the new DotNetPanel hosting.

    Does that all sound OK?

    Thanks

    Hi Compserv,

You're absolutely to the correct mark and path. You just need to ask your customer's to change the DNS records i.e Name Servers for their domain names to the Name Servers provided for your account. It normally takes 24 to 48 hours for the name server to propagate all over the world wide internet however if they are gTLD domain names like .Com, .Net, .Org, .Biz, .Info then it should propagate within the next 4 to 6 hours.

Additional Info : When a domain name is registered the domain name entirely belongs to the Registrant Contact of the domain name. He has all the authorities to take the decision of Renewal/Transfer of the domain name according to the Domain Registry Rules and not the Current Web Host.

Thanks Bryan. It is a gTLD (.com) so I better make sure I have it all set up before I get them to change the Name Servers.
