Default Set up a client's email to a 3rd party

    Hi,

I've got a ticket open for this, but as I've not had a reply in almost 4 hours, I thought I'd ask here in case anyone has an answer. The basic question is:

How can I set it up so that any email to <name>@clientsdomain.com gets directed to pop3.demon.co.uk (where <name> can be anything). Need to clarify the DNS settings, unless there's another way.

    This is using DotNetPanel

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Roger,

I've updated your ticket [NPV-18166-559]. An A record is always an IP address (number), whereas to setup pop3.demon.co.uk for email transactions, an MX record needs to be added with the lowest priority. I've made the necessary corrections & you can check the DNS records from the DNP control panel for the modifications. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks, Rock. Unfortunately it's still not working and I'm at a loss to understand why.

    A couple of observations:

    1. Mail has not been set up on the eUKHosting service deliberately as we don't want email handled here. Would setting up email on the hosting package help to fix the problem or make matters worse?

    2. We still have an A record mail.<clientsdomain>.com pointing to the demon pop3 server IP address. Is this correct?

    3. There is an MX record with priority 0 pointing to pop3.demon.co.uk, which is the server name Demon provided.

Thanks for any help/pointers anyone can offer.

No, there's no need to setup email account on our servers, as no MX records point to us, no emails would be flowing in this direction.

Yes, this is correct & won't have any impact on the mail services.

If you're using an email client, please use the following mail servers in it:
    Incoming mail (pop3) server - pop3.demon.co.uk (port 110)
Outgoing mail (smtp) server - post.demon.co.uk (port 25)

This is the MX record, which should point to the Demon's mail servers.

After few investigations & tests, it's come to my notice that the mail server at Demon.co.uk doesn't respond on port 25. Could you please confirm the MX records which are to be setup are correct ones?
