Thumbs down EUKHost no longer supports Wordpress for Resellers?

I have had a whm/cpanel reseller account with eukhost for quite a few years now, but in the last 7 months have been struggling to find a server that actually supports Wordpress. I would appreciate some feedback from other Wordpress users about the functions that they would consider essential - for example the ability to include pictures or links?

Last May I went through the trauma of migrating 60 domains to a new server because the php on the old one was out of date and could not be upgraded - (Wordpress now demands php 5 or higher). Then in December I had to migrate again 70+ domains because mysql was out of date and could not be upgraded.

Now on this latest server I seem to be the victim of some over zealous mod security rules. It seems that it is not allowed to include a link on a page or post. This includes a link to a page or picture - even within the same domain! Existing pages are shown ok - but basically they can never be edited again, or new ones created, or the error 406 "Unacceptable" is thrown up. Deleting all links to leave text only is "acceptable".

When I raised the ticket initially the operator 'unblocked' the single URL I used as an example to illustrate the problem that is effecting hundreds of pages throughout many domains but I was later told it was not practical to do this en mass for multiple domains.

I have struggled for a few days now with the support ticket system - but the feeling I am getting is that this is my problem to live with.

What do other resellers think? Could you sell a Wordpress domain to your customer if they knew that pictures and links were banned - or needed special permission before they could be included?

How would you break the news to some of your existing clients of five+ years that from now on before they can edit their site homepage text they first have to delete all the pictures and links?

    Hi Chris.

We have multiple Linux cPanel shared/reseller servers and most of those are running latest stable LAMP stack. All our new servers are not only the wordpress compatible but also are optimized in terms of performance and security. Though some issues are noticed while installing, upgrading and managing the app but we are able to manage those with the custom environment settings.

While looking at your issues, there seems to be mod_security conflicts with
some pictures links. We can instantly resolve this by just disabling the mod_security restriction
completely for the entire domains but this is not recommended solution and will leave your apps in danger of (XSS) cross site scripting attacks. Instead we can exclude only affecting links from the specific rules.

Yes, There is no automated way to exclude only affecting links and rules from multiple domains.
We have to do it manually and make some test to ensure that its working fine. As this is shared server
and rules are added in global config file, we can not modify the mod_sec rules for one client.

We are still working on your issue and shall update you once the affecting links are excluded from the mentioned domains.
Please reply us in the ticket ALT-243-81549 if you still have any doubt or query.

    Regards,

    Chris.
With 70+ domains maybe it's time to upgrade to a VPS and get much more control

    Hi,
I agree with David - If you have over 70+ Domains a VPS or Private Cloud server would be more ideal as it can be setup how you want it.
A reseller environment is way to get you started before you move up...

Maybe - although I would be concerned about how much more I would need to learn - I'm already in trouble it seems with the experts in charge. Are you responsible for the set-up yourselves or can you still raise a ticket to get things implemented if you're not sure?

    Hi Chris,
The servers are managed servers, which means if you are unsure about something or need any work doing... eUK will be able to do it for you at no extra cost!

The best thing you could do, is have the VPS setup how you want from the start - and create yourself a reseller account.
That way the server is setup how you like it and you login to your own reseller how you normally would?

Just an idea - Hope it helps?
