Default moving from shared to reseller

    Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading from shared cpanel hosting to reseller. I've got about 10 or so domains as addons, and some of them have email accounts set up with them.

I would like to move to a reseller account as I would like to manage all of the domains as separate accounts. How easy is it to migrate an addon domain to its own account?

Does anyone have any experience of doing this? How about moving emails and email accounts? I'm just a bit nervous about messing up email access.

Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Duncan,

There is no automated way of moving addon domains from a shared hosting account to a separate account under a reseller plan. The migration is to be done manually. Once your reseller hosting account is setup, you'll need to create separate accounts for each of your domains through WHM and then create the databases from cPanel for each account. Once this done, you can raise a ticket with our technical support department to ask them to copy the data and restore the databases too.

With regards to emails and email accounts currently being used on those domains, we will try and move those too.

So the only way to get all the data from your shared hosting is to do it manually. Rebuilding all the folders and .htaccess files, is that how you supposed to do it? I'm quite new to this moving part, all I know is that you can make a ticket to transfer your files and setting from shared hosting to your reseller account.

Moving addons to a separate cPanel account is always the tedious part as it needs to be done manually. You can download the files/folders of the addon domain using the File Manager. You will also need to take a backup of the databases, which can be later restored from cPanel. After you have created the new account, upload the data to the new account.

It is best to download emails on your local machine. Once everything has moved over to the new server, all you need to do is change the DNS and keep your *fingers crossed*
