Default Wordpress - iPhone app and MarsEdit 406 error

I've used Wordpress for CMS on previous hosting packages and have recently moved over to Eukhost.

I'm trying to configure the Wordpress iPhone app and MarsEdit to work with a Wordpress hosting blog on Eukhost but I keep getting a "406 unacceptable" error in both apps.

It's normally easy to set these up, but this time I'm stumped.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Mike,

I have received an update from Jack with the list of domain names you are having issues with. I am looking into your issue and will update you shortly.

    Thumbs up update

    Hi Mike,

Further investigating, I have found that the issue was due to the mod_security rules we have configured on the server. I have excluded your domain names so that the mod_security does not triggers while configuring the Wordpress iPhone app and MarsEdit.

If you still face any issues, do post them here OR send an email at support[@]eukhost.com

    Hi

    Thanks for the prompt resolution!

Just tried the iPhone Wordpress app with iomphoto.com/wordpress and caine.im/wordpress and all seems fine now

The whole gunmen.im site doesn't seem to be working now and gives a "Template Error: The template file must be given" error. Not too sure what's going on. In WHM there's no IP address lsited for the domain. It did disappear for a short while recently bu that turned out to be when telford was being moved to new server software.

Can you please advise if I need to submit a new ticket or can it be resolved as part of this ticket?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hello,

Virtual entry was missing for the "gunmen.im" domain in apache configuration, hence it wasn't working. I have added this entry manually on the server. Domain is working fine now.

    Hi

    Thanks for sorting it

Re Christiano's fix for the iPhone app / Mars Edit solution re mod_security triggering, does this now mean that it we have a wordpress site that we want to update from the likes of the iPhone Wordpress app we would have to ask you to exclude the domian from mod_security each time?

    Kind regards

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

We did not disable mod_security for the whole domain. We have excluded just the code which was being triggered. Yes, you will need to contact us so that we can make the required changes.

    Hi Christiano

Are you OK with doing that each time? It soulds like a bit of work for you.

I see gunmen.im has disappeared again. A few posts ago Eric said -

"Virtual entry was missing for the "gunmen.im" domain in apache configuration, hence it wasn't working. I have added this entry manually on the server. Domain is working fine now."

Is it the same problem or somethign new. I seem to be unlucky with that domain in the few days it's been up

    Kind regards

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

There was an issue with the configuration file which has been resolved now. Yes, I had to exclude the domains one by one.

    Default Same Issue

    Hi There,

I'm getting a similar issue with the iphone wordpress app on microphaze.co.uk (a 404 in this case - stockport server)

I am also looking at setting some other wordpress blogs up on here, I don't have an issue with asking you guys each time I need to set one up, but is there an override that can be added to the .htaccess files to save from asking you each time?

see the following post for more details:

WordPress for iPhone Forums » Can't Access Blog via app

WordPress for iPhone Forums » 403 Error

    Regards,

    Andy.

Just realised this forum is for dedicated/vps and I'm on shared hosting. Apologies, got here via the search while trying to find a solution. Would you like me to repost elsewhere?

That's my fault, I hadn't noticed. I'm on a unix reseller account and wasn't sure which forum to originally post it.

    Hi Mike/Andy,

That's absolutely fine, no need to repost elsewhere. The thread has been moved to the appropriate forum now.

Ah, I've just found this thread again. I PM'ed Christiano as I'm having the same problem as before on gunmen.im - "Template Error: The template file must be given" and unknown IP in WHM. I assume the virtual entry has gone missing again. Can one of you please round it up and hopefully fix it so it doesn't keep escaping

    Thanks

    Mike

Edit to add - now sorted - thanks!

    Hi Mike,

I have PM'ed you with the explanation as to why did it happen.

gunmen.im has been dissappearing at least once a week since it was setup and it's now getting very tedious having to PM Cristiano to give it a poke and get it working again. It seems to be the saem problem each time and I get the feeling that eukhost don't really know how to solve the problem permanently.

It's not an important site, just one where I try things out behind the scenes, but I could have been a customer's site which wouldn't have been a very good experience with it failing to work on such a regular basis.

Am I alone / unlucky with this one site? All of the otheres on my reseller package work fine.

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

The entry for the domain was missing in some of the configuration files on the server. The time apache was rebuilt the entry for the domain was removed from the apache configuration file.

I have re-created your account on the server & can see that the entries for the domain are properly restored in all the configuration files.

This should resolve the issue now.
