    Default Seeking Employment

I am an experienced Service Desk engineer/analyst with an enormous passion and intrigue for the IT industry. I was given the opportunity to gain hands on experience at Manor Solutions, this included applications and infrastructure as well as working on bespoke software. My key skills were utilised and expanded when I took the position of Technical Support Analyst at Fasthosts. I am able to identify issues in a fast and effective manner always reaching KPI’s and SLA’s. I am customer focused and have a proven track record of providing customer satisfaction. I always put in 100% and go beyond the call of duty to ensure all problems are solved or escalated. I see myself as a team leader or hopefully in a 2nd Line Engineer role in the future and am looking to further my career within a company who can give me career progress in a fast paced environment.

    Hy richard.copestake,

There are few people that have such a vast field of knowledge.
My question is why haven't you found a job , yet?

Please take a pick on some online job search website hostings. Place your CV there.

    Recruitt.com is one of them.

    Mmm,

Your skills list looks impressive .. I've seen a number of jobs go by on the UK IT Recruitment web site hosting that might suit ..

If you do a search for "UK IT Recruitment" you should find the URL ..
    Vacancy 253 for example ..

    Richard,

Unfortunately, in the current economic climate, finding employment within the IT sector has become increasingly difficult but I am glad to say that it seems to be improving. However, unless you have got a good Employment Agency or Headhunter representing you, it may be better to look for work more directly than reply on these 3rd parties to find you something themselves.

I only know of this having worked within Senior Management for many years and also having spoken with similar level individuals within the UK Recruitment sector in the recent past. Although my background is also within the UK IT industry, I have looked to recruit many staff over the years and have found that 99% of Employment Agencies are relatively ineffective and that their employed consultants are generally inexperienced in recruiting at intermediate-to-senior level.

However, something I would recommend strongly to people like yourself who have struggled with Employment Agencies in the recent past is looking to go along the more "direct route" of approaching companies and effectively marketing yourself without any 3rd party involvement from headhunters or agencies. I had been unemployed for 2.5 months until last week and although my new interim Director position begins in a week's time, I was lucky to find my new role directly.

I was assisted by a specialist company called Massive CVs who firstly helped me to locate Senor Management contacts within specific companies in the IT sector, some of which I stipulated to them and others (mainly SMEs) who I had not heard of previously. Once the had presented this information to me (I paid £250 for 10 company contacts at Director, Partner and/or CEO level), I then set about calling them directly and marketing myself. I didn't feel that I needed any assistance with this having had plenty of experience in the past but Massive CVs can offer this service to you if you require it. They also assist with professional CV rewriting and although I was open to this from them, they advised me that I needed no real work doing to it and as it turned out, they were correct.

I then also looked to contact my old "networking partners" along with this market-mapping exercise and found myself speaking to about 30-40 people a day about my availability and experience, effectively to see whether they could offer me a position. As it turned out, I spent 3 days doing this and got 2 interviews out of the process, with my chosen company offering me a position after an initial telephone interview and then a further formal meeting. It was not only nice to be able to feel like I was proactively working on my behalf but I also picked up some further networking contacts along the way which I will look to use when I start me new role.

This might not be relevant or applicable to your present situation but if you are getting frustrated with agencies and headhunters and have not got an issue with being proactive yourself, I would recommend going down the direct route. I would also recommend speaking to the company I used, Massive CVs. One of their Partners Paul worked with me at Senior level and he did a good job with me and made me see things in a different light. Effectively, we worked together to get things done off of my own back and unfortunately, in this day and age, if you want something done, you pretty much have to do it yourself! I'd happily recommend them but like I say, just looking at things more directly has helped me immensely.

I hope this helps and good luck getting a new position.

    Thumbs up

Hi, I don't know why you can't find a job regardless of your skills and vast field of knowledge. Though I know there are lot of competition in our industry. Try to look for Outsourcing Company. It's the smart advice that I can give to you.

    Good luck buddy!
