I've been emailling support about this but thet aren't reading what I'm saying and their answers vary between useless and repeating the same (unhelpful) advice.
Before I waste a tonne of time moving my sites to somewhere which might let me access them from time to time, I thought I'd open a discussion here rather than just getting knee-jerk copy/paste answers from people who aren't reading what I'm writing.
Problem: For some reason my IP address is repeatedly being added to the firewall resulting in my being unable to access any of my own sites.
I suspect this relates to an automatic backup I run which runs 4 times a day downloading updated files (Guestbooks, News Scripts etc.) - it's Linux-based and uses wget via passive FTP
It's been running for 3-4 months without a problem but recently I've noticed it having issues which coincides with my being unable to access my sites from that point onwards too.
I've variously been told it's a problem with my firewall or anti-virus and to disable those (erm - no) - that it's a problem with my FTP client (erm - tested that - no) and that the firewalling is temporary (and yet until Tech Support resets it I can't access anything).
It seems to me that you've changed something in your firewall which my wget/ftp job is upsetting - but that it didn't upset back in Aug/Sep/Oct at least. I don't think FTPing into my sites 4 times a day checking for updates is an onerous or complex task anyway and can't imagine why it should cause an issue!?!?
p.s. I suspect the problem started when the clocks changed - is there a timing issue in your firewall software which is seeing more activity than it should perhaps?
