Default can't ftp to my site

I use wordpress and require root access,I added a new user as per what I've read here but it doesn't have root directory access which is a must for me,it simply shows an empty directory I need to see the public hmtl etc for transferring themes etc.

How is this done, this is the first host I cannot log in with normal cpanel info.

While adding a FTP account from cPanel, enter '/' in the field "Directory:". Doing this, will provide access to the root directory of the account.

We have disabled the default FTP accounts on all our shared servers for security reasons. Refer FTP Disabled for more info.

Ok I've sussed that ok to get to the public html folder,to get to the root folder,I guess I would just root/,lmk if this is right.
I realise it's for security etc that's cool.just that alot of sites I'll be doing will require google site verfication image uploads to root etc so I need to know how to show the people I'll be renting the site to how to do all this.

Yes, you will need to use '/' in the Directory Path while creating the FTP account. This will provide access to /home/cPanel-username. public_html & all other files reside under this directory.
    Refer Create FTP tutorial.

Note :: cPanel-username is the actual cPanel username.

    Hope this helps
