Default internal server error at random intervals

all my sites on server 'host21' keep showing an 'internal server error' page at random intervals. it lasts for a minute or two, then the site will show fine again for a while - half an hour or an hour.

I have tried the live support twice now and they do not help. the current one with alias 'pedro' is attempting to tell me its due to incorrect permissions on files.

    anyone any ideas?

Have you checked the logs? Do the outages correspond with high load / resource usage? Have you got low disk space?

not when it happened, nothing in the logs to suggest anything. memory usage was fine and am using little disc space.

The error logs on the respective server show absolutely no information for any errors that occurred on your primary domain name, unless it's an addon domain you are referring to.

One of the common reasons for Internal server error is indeed incorrect permissions. What I will suggest you here is, kindly contact the live support when you see the error again. We might be able to get some information from the server logs then and there.

    Hi,

The server on which your account is hosted is a shared server and we have installed cloudlinux on the server. The cloudlinux limits the CPU and memory usage per user and prevents certain users from using more server resources. It seems your website is using heavy server resources and when it goes 100%, due to lack off memory and CPU, the website shows 500 Internal server error and when the resource usage is low, it works without any error.

if it was permissions it would either work entirely, or not work at all, not switch between the two.

sheridan - are you able to tell me which site that was for? I see in my resource usage graph that memory has hit the 1G limit a few times today, but is that 1G limit the server as a whole?
