    Default Invalid Certificate

Whenever I access the Control Panel with the url I was provided, I am informed it does not have a valid certificate and I am recommended to go no further! Is this somethng should be concerned about? When I proceed to the panel I am left with as red url in the resource locator box.

    thanks

    Thumbs up

No it's fine Amber. It's to do with the self signed certs that cPanel issues itself.

It'll be fine but the guys will make sure for you.

    Hey,
The certificate that cPanel uses is a self signed certificate. There is no big deal with this as it's still secure just it hasn't been signed by a "Trusted Authority". If you were selling stuff using the certificate then people would get scared but in this situation it isn't a problem and is more of a warning from your browser than a real security threat.

Totally OK Amber Jo. Just click on preceed to the website even though windows advises you don't.

Like we've said it's all to do with cPanel's self signed certs.

It's OK for you as you know it's your site etc. But, if you plan to trade and need SSL certs you should get cPanel to generate a signing request and go to a cert provider.

There's so many available from a few pounds up to hundreds. If your site is going to sell don't leave the cPanel self-signed cert in there or your visitors will run the other way. After all even you yourself became worried when you saw the red bar and warning message.

    Good luck!
