    Default Wordpress problem

    Hi,

I host www.design33.net with eukhost. I have installed wordpress and am attempting to post from the wordpress Android app. When I go to setup the site on the app I get an error:

status code: 406 was returned. Not acceptable

Searching on the web shows me that there may be an issue with XML_RPC but php is not my strong point *ahem*...

It's really annoying that I cannot post from the android app - any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Ivhero,

The 406 error message is occurs due to the mod security. We have disabled the offending mod security rule for the domain design33.net, please try to post from the android app and let us know if you have/face any further problem.
    Regards
    George

Looks like the same has happened to my installs too - but i am getting this 406 error from my web browser in the wordpress admin panel.

What has been changed with modsec?

can you change my accounts back?

    James.

    Hello James,

We have disabled the offending mod security rule for the domain abc.jcdhosting.com hosting account, please check and let us know if you have/face any further problem.

As you mentioned in the last reply that you want to disable the mod security for all the domains hosted under your reseller account therefore please contact us on the live chat support or open a support ticket, so that we can disable the offending mod security rule for the respective domains hosting account under which you are facing the problem due to the mod security. We can't disable the mod security for all the domains without knowing the exact problem/errors because the reseller account is hosted on the shared serer environment and disabling the mod security for all the domains can cause the security whole in the server.
    Regards
    George

Im also getting the error on my own custom written cms.

    this is silly now.

youve broken my websites and my business, without any warning.

    not happy.

    Hello James,

Its seems that you had chat with Dan G on liveChat who has corrected your issue with few domains by disabling offending mod security. As George has mention in his last reply we can disable the offending mod security rule for the respective domains hosting account under which you are facing the problem due to the mod security. But we can't disable the mod security for all the domains without knowing the exact problem/errors, disabling the mod security for all the domains can cause the security whole in the server. If you face same issue with your new domain you may contact us any time via livechat/ticket and we will get it correct.

    Regards,
    Silvester J

Yes, thanks to Dan for sorting it for me.

However, I still fail to see how this error occurred. He was unable to give me an answer as to why it happened.

surely if editing mod_security solved the problem, then that was what caused it? but he said that nothing had been changed before.

Now i love euk because the service is great, but if the server config is going to keep changing without telling anyone and breaking websites then its not really good service is it?

    Hello James,

It might be possible that there aren't any changes done on the server by you or by senior admins for any reason but sometimes the programs or applications installed on the servers change the settings on the server and it is not possible to understand as to how the settings are changed. While installation, some of the applications ask us whether it's fine to make the changes on the server/computer and we agree to the changes without actually understanding what kind of changes will be done and neither we know that the changes have been done.

It might be possible that any of the programs installed on the system made some changes to it and the effects were realized later on. Sometimes, even the logs do not display anything related to the changes made to the system.

Glad to know that the issue has been sorted and we hope that you won't face any problems in the future. You can be sure of the fact that you will receive excellent quality support when you are with EUK.
