Do any of your agents listen ?

ok set up 2 folders to hold pictures on my domain Folder1 and Folder 2.

I want these folders to upload a piucture and dellete it when the user removes it from their profile.

I go into plesk and set the relevant permissions Folder 1 works fine upload and delete. Folder 2 will only upload, go into plesk again and reset permissions folder 2 still wont delete.

so i go on chat tell the agent the problem

now dooes anyone not understand this simple instruction

Richie: Hi Can you set some permissions on some folders for me please as they are not changing when I try it. I altered some last night and some changed but there is one folder with 4 folders inside that wont change for me

Richie: at the moment i can upload pictures but it wont let me delete them

after a few mins he replies still the same error so he goes away again comes back and asks lme to try again now my FTP isnt working. but I get the same error access to the 2nd folder is denied.

So after a few more attempts FTP comes back up but i still have the permissions error on the 2nd folder.

So i go into more details asking him to set the permissions for folder 2 the same as folder 1.

so he toddles off for another few mins and comes back can you try again please. I try same error

I ask him again to set folder 2 permissions the same as for folder 1 and he replies i have alltered the ppermissions for the root folder.

now i asked for delete and modify to be turned on and if delete and modify are on the root folder thats a security breach so i asked why he did that and did he bother reading what i has asked him to do to which he replied

justin: So you are able to access the folder now ?

Richie: nope i can upload to the folder fine but when i go to delete the pic using the site i still get the error

Richie: can you set the CouplePicture folders up with the same permissions as the UserPictures folder please

justin: Richie , I have set appropriate permissions for your domain .

Richie: obviously not as i can upload and delete afile to UserPictures yet I cannot do it to CouplePictures

Richie: I get the error you do not have permissions to do this on couplepictures

Richie: but i dont get it on userpictures therefore the permissions on couplepictures are DIFFERENT

justin: I have set permission for your root folder .

justin: You will need to check at your local end .

Richie: DONT DO THE ROOT FOLDER SET THEM ON THE COUPLEPICTURES FOLDER ONLY

Richie: THE ROOT WORKS FINE THATS NOT THE PROBLEM

Richie: I DO NOT WANT DELETE PERMISSIONS SET ON THE ROOT FOLDER ffs

dont you love the fact the chat agents all listen to what you ask them.

Going back in chat now lets see how long it takes a chat agent to alter permissions on 1 folder on my site cause plesk wont do it for me.

The problem isnt an ftp issue.

I am going to delete the folder and recreate it from scratch later on tonight after the footy or i may cheat and copy the one that works and rename it.

I will let you know how it goes.

I sorted it I deleted the old folder and copied the working one to another locatiojn, renamed the folder and copied it back and it works now so must have been a permissions issue.
