    Default DotNetPanel Mailing Lists

    Hello,
I've just submitted a ticket, but thought I'd try here too.

Does anyone successfully use mailing lists on dotnet panel?

I've just set up 2 new lists (first time I've done it) and both generate an undeliverable 550 response as soon as I try sending a message.

I just wondered if this was a general problem (ie: They're not configured to work on the server) or if it's just me!

    Thanks

Additionally, does anyone else have the problem of AWStats repeatedly breaking?
I don't look at them often, but whenever I do, there's some script/permissions error.

No he hasn't. And the lost website is still lost. And the test file that was set up on the lost domain in response to my third ticket doesn't work.
So, two tickets not answered and one ticket a failure to understand the issue properly.
I dread these situations with eukhost.

Edit: oh yes, there were replies, but no emails to let me know. And the questions remain unsanswered:

    1. Why do Awstats repeatedly fail?
    2. Why did my domains need to be reconfigured to support mail lists when it's supposed to be a standard feature?
    3. What happened to the lost files for one of my domains, which disappeared with an error message, and why did my permissions need to be restored to that domain when I did not change them in the first place and the site was working fine previously?

And so we begin the eukhost dance, where support just keep repeating the same thing over and over again, without ever reaching a resolution.

    1. I get a report that one of my sites is down.
    2. I check the files on DotNetPanel and get an error message relating to files, which I send to eukhost.
    3. I try again - there's no wwwroot folder at all
    4. I try again - and wwroot has come back, but all files are missing.

I KNOW there are no files - that's my concern. Therre's no point in just telling me that over and over.

    I'm guessing you didn't have a backup?

Had you installed new software or made any updates just prior to the files going missing?

With reference to the ticket id's JVI-741-60467 (Mailing lists) and QTP-729-99855 (AW Stats Update problem), I can see that Nicholas has been constantly following up on your issues and have offered you detailed steps as to what needs to be done. About the issue with viewing the Mailing List log from SmarterMail, please check the latest reply posted in the ticket. I believe, following the steps mentioned in there should help you get rid of the problem.

Referring to the issue regarding AWstats, Alfred has set the required permissions as stated in the ticket (QTP-729-99855) and that it seems to be working absolutely fine. We would appreciate if you'd please check and confirm the same.

Now talking about the site where you faced deletion of files (ref. : OHZ-667-76619), we have restored the backup from our backup server and it seems to be working fine. Thanks for confirming the removal of hacked links from some of the html files. We would suggest you to also check the other pages for any such traces.

To avoid such problems we suggest you choose one of the R1Soft Backup Plans and manage backups for all your websites.

I hope that all the issues have now been resolved and as it seems, every site of yours are looking in good shape. Kindly revert incase you need any help on this. We would appreciate if you'd update the relevant tickets for the same. We would be glad to assist you with it.

Yes I do have back ups. Who doesn't have offline files? And no, I hadn't installed anything recently.
I was told the site was down. When I tried to look at the site's files on dotnet panel I got an error that related to file structure. I tried again 5 minutes later, and the whole folder was empty. No default folders at all. No wwwroot even. I looked a third time and the default folders were back, but completely empty.

Stan, thanks for the updates. As I'm sure you know, the support system, doesn't always send emails, so I've yet to check the tickets. Yes, the site is back up, thanks. Will check the other issues and close the remaining tickets when appropriate.

    Thanks Stan.
The sites are fine now. I've just updated the tickets for the AWStats and Mail Lists issues, which are not yet resolved.
I'm sure we'll get there in the end though!

Henry has replied Ticket: QTP-729-99855 (AW Stats Update problem) and Raymond has replied Ticket : JVI-741-60467 (Mailing lists). I don't see any further update from you on those tickets. Both Henry and Raymond have provided a solution in their respective replies and Raymond has already informed you that he will update the same ticket again once he gets a update from smartermail's support team.

Please update the respective tickets if the issue is unresolved.

So, the only solution to the repeating failure of AWStats is to wipe everything completely, all my domains, websites, mail accounts, forwarders etc... and recreate?

You will have seen my comment that if I do this, and the issue recurs, then I will be going?

It seems a drastic measure to me, and personally I'm not convinced that this will fix the issue.
If you're sure, of course, then I'll give it a go when I get the time. After all, you know best, don't you?

Tickets updated to reflect the fact that I think the proposed solution won't work, since creating a brand new domain and installing AWstats resulted in the exact same error message as before.

I'm not going to waste more of my time on a solution that won't actually solve anything.

At last, a definitive answer to the AWStats problem!

"It doesn't work. We can't fix it. Use Google Analytics instead!"

Now if only you'd come clean months ago, it would have saved a lot of bother.

Why advertise that you offer something if it doesn't work?

As mentioned in Ticket: QTP-729-99855 (AW Stats Update problem), the issue with the stats is the LOG file not being generated properly. To have IIS recreate the log file properly you were asked to remove and add the domain again to add the mappings and IIS settings again to create the log file properly.

We have over 1000 sites on the DNP cluster most of them have enabled awstats from the control panel. We have had no other reports of errors like your. Kindly update the ticket once you recreate the site and we will check the log file permissions and format for it.

But, as I've said already, when I create a NEW site, the issue still persists. Doesn't creating a new site create a log file properly? Well, no it doesn't, does it? So recreating an existing domain is not going to achieve anything.
And the excuse that you have no problems with all your other customers is not a valid one. I hardly touch my sites, yet awtstats regularly and repeatedly fail, so it's not something I'm doing to the sites, is it?
I give up. I'm not going to recreate a whole domain for the same issue to recur.

If it's not a global error, then why is it so difficult to resolve this issue? What's different about my sites from the 100s of others that use Awstats without any problems?
