    Default VNC onto cloud VM

    Hi

I've created a test VM to try to get VNC working, but not having much luck

I've followed the forum post here : http://www.eukhost.com/forums/f15/co...er-linux-6355/ as well as lot of other guides on the Internet.

I have vncserver installed - and it is running on :1

I've tried several VNC clients, but none seem to connect - I was wondering, maybe there is a firewall rule blocking the incomming connection - but I have no iptables

    Any ideas?

For me, the obvious question is:
If you're using Linux (clever person), then why bother at all with VNC/Putty? In the years of running VPS's, all I use is a terminal and ssh, supplemented by cPanel/WHM.
I also just use terminal/ssh to my local RAID NAS.

Long story - but I need to configure firefox / manage addons

Once done I'll rarely VNC onto it

A simple "ssh root@ipaddress" would suffice?

Firefox doesn't expose (m)any commands to remote control it over CLI

Totally flummoxed by why anyone would want to run a ssh from within a browser (secure-->insecure, for only one reason) but this might help:

As I said long story - that is not what I want to do.

I want to setup a headless website screenshotting service.

    - job comes in
    - firefox goes to URL
    - takes screenshot
    - crops + saves PNG

But I need to install an addon onto firefox and have to VNC onto the machine

    Hello Danny,

Please try to use IPADDRESSS:1 in VNC client I hope it will work.

I had tried to access it from here, it iwants me to enter the password.
    Thanks and Regards,

:1 is the internal port - the external port is 5901 - which is not open

If anyone wants to reply to this feel free, however, I managed to get Firefox configured how I needed using the prefs.js file. So this isn't important to me anymore.

    Smile VNC onto cloud VM

Yes, fire fox does not expose any commands to remote control it over CLI
