It is a rather complicated technical issue, but I will summarize it.
10:57 this morning our Telecity HEX BSQ_Ring switch became un-contactable according to our monitoring systems. Small amounts of packet loss to a few servers was noticed.
We shut down the suspected port down at 11:07 on a HEX Switch which is part of the link aggregation group to our HEX core router.
This was still causing problems for a few clients and there was a service disruption (downtime) for the above servers between 12:52 and 13:12 while this was attempted to be resolved.
We shut down another port in question as appeared to be affecting the HSRP traffic between the routers, causing IP network instabilities. This stopped the HSRP process issues and our monitoring cleared.
Total downtime was 20 minutes. to the above shared hosting servers.
