Default Storage Clusters Reboot - VM Cloud

    Hello,

We will need to perform reboots on our storage clusters hosting VMware and HyperV clouds tomorrow, 27/04/2011, between 11pm and midnight. Impacted customers will also be e-mailed directly during the night

There may be a 0-30 second downtime while migrations are done at this time.

This has been scheduled because the AC issues we experienced today has impacted the way the clusters talk to each other in the interconnect and has diminished the monitoring available to us, which isn't at all recommended on a long term situation, as we won't be able to pick up on potential problems.
    Kind Regards,
    John - Managing Director

Yep, this is much more like it: plenty of warning, even for a minimal outage.
    Very professional and much appreciated.

    Hello,

This work has been completed. One VMware Node on Cluster 3 had an extended issue which lasted 5 minutes, which resulted in 10 VMs being down for 5 or so minutes (two reboots)

All other nodes and VMs experienced near to no downtime.
    Kind Regards,

Clean as a whistle here, I'm glad to say.
Many thanks for the prompt update, to let us know the work has been completed.

    Best regards

They are running again yes thank you.... it however a little disappointing to know that something that was supposed to take minutes took almost 9 hours.

    Hello,

I'm not entirely sure it was related as no other customers have experienced the type of problems you are reporting resulting from the work carried out.

I'm sure it's of no consolation, but no other customers reported any downtime, which is what we would expect.

I'll have someone look into the cause of your issue to ensure it isn't an underline issue with your VM.
    Kind Regards,

My server was rebooted when I was advised it wouldn't be.

"Apologies the server and the infrastructure required a reboot. The storage post the maintainance was not connecting to your cluster. Not all the clusters required this but unfortunately it was your specific one that required a reboot."

not impressed. Not 100% uptime is it.... and certainly not a cloud solution.

    Hello Adam,

As John had pointed out in his earlier reply it was unfortunate that this happened . Kindly update your ticket with us if you have any further technical queries.

    Regards,
    Ray
