How much important is the Ping Time?
Hello all,
I am looking for Web Hosting provider to host my website with. However, to decide the best amongst all, I thought of participating the forums. Just to start with, the very first question I have is about the ping time. I see that for few websites I get the the ping time of about 85-95ms
while for few websites I get it about 450-500ms
Can anyone here please let me know how important the ping time is?

to the forums Justin!
Yes it is important as it gives shows the time required to send or receive from your IP to the server. However many factors such the local ISP, network connection etc. can affect the actual performance of ping time. So it is not the only thing to be considered while choosing the hosting company.

Ping time reflects the amount of latency for packets to get from you to the server. However this can be effected by different factors on the path between you and the server so I'd not emphasize completely on it.
Ping time is extremely important for services such as Voice Servers and Game Servers where it's necessary to have an extremely low ping. For your average everyday web hosting, you can get away with anything from about 1-200 before you begin to see a questionable delay.Cloud Hosting - Pay-As-You-Go Hosting with eNlight Cloud

Thank you for replies.
If I have a hosting account with you then is it possible that the performance of my site is affected for the visitors if their connection speed goes slow?

I have seen this question asked at similar hosting forums and they too said anything less than 250ms is average, any more and you'll start seeing a few issues with delay etc
